Mashup

“There’s been a transformation of America, and it will have unbelievable influence on the world.”
curious, independent and thoughtful.
Barack Obama, a 47-year-old first-term senator from Illinois, shattered more than 200 years of history Tuesday night by winning election as the first African-American president of the United States. By the time the world has been taught that ‘Change has come to America,’.
“If there is anyone out there who doubts that America is a place where anything is possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer,” Obama declared.
Miuccia Prada. Her power, first manifested in the minimal black nylon backpack draped over every influential arm in the '90s
says Julie Gilhart, fashion director for Barneys. "She never follows anyone else's lead, just her own original energy. Her collections are completely an expression of herself."

Madonna has spent her entire career reinventing herself. She has consistently found a way to reinvent both her style of music and of fashion like no female artist has ever done before.
Desperation and luxury are mortal enemies. Fear and power do not peacefully coexist. The singer, actress and acclaimed author continues to prove that she is ahead of the times. By the time the world has caught on to the 'new' Madonna, she's already bored and ready to move on.
After signing her first singles deal with Sire Records in 1982, the budding pop star took the tattered look mainstream.
There’s been a transformation, she transformed herself into equally controversial figure and it will have unbelievable influence on the world.”

final environment

meeting space& the ramp

the ramp with the curve shape is made up by groups of concrete cubes. The structur imitates the wave from the ocean.

The ramp is used to connect the meeting spaces and the lab.

The end of the ramp has the shape again related to wave and the sea. As the ending part is bended to try to cover the meeting space underneath, the concept 'veil' is revealed again.

part of the meeting space is sitting behind the wall.
this part of the meeting space is built by subtraction which gives the space a dark, solid feel. furthermore, this describes the formal meeting space.
on the other hand, this part of the meeting space is located between the two labs and it is hanging out of the wall. it has a light, casual, creative feeling comparing to the first part of the meeting space.
the differernt heights of the featuring columns creates a image of the wave, and the arrangement of the columns forms another'veil' for the meeting space.

the meeting space is decided to be an open area for two clients to sharing their ideas.

the first designed ramp is too simple and can not reflect any ideas of the quotes.

i was trying to divid the meeting space into half, one behind the wall and one hanging out of the wall.

Jacques-Yves Cousteau's lab

the spaces behind each wall become more and more private.

Early design for Jacques-Yves Cousteau's lab. the four walls intersect with the floor perpendicularly which implies the idea that having opposite attitude with others. Also, the layering of the wall gives a effective view of the shadow and the feeling of ' privacy' is enhanced when passing through the walls.

Hope is nature's veil for hiding truth's nakedness. --Alfred Nobel
A lot of people attack the sea, I make love to it.----Jacques-Yves Cousteau
Most people attack the sea as it is big enough to conceal any truth or fake. I make love to it because it provides an unlimited stage for people to explore any possibilities which are hiding underneath the wave.
